If I Were Just Getting Started on Instagram… Here’s the Simple 3-Post Plan I’d Follow

Alright friend, let’s pretend you and I are sitting together, iced coffee in hand, scrolling through Instagram trying to figure out what on earth to post this week.

If I had to commit to posting three times a week (which, let’s be honest, is a very reasonable pace for most business owners who also have 47 other things happening at all times), here’s exactly the content I’d focus on. And yes, this is the same thing I tell my clients.

1️⃣ Something funny… or at least “oh my goodness, that’s so me.”

Here’s the thing: If you can make people laugh, you win.

Humor = shares = reach = more eyeballs on your business without you doing anything except being a little unhinged on the internet.

And if you’re not naturally funny? Great news- relatable or emotional posts hit just as hard. You know those posts where you think, “Wow, did she read my mind?” That’s the sweet spot.

Make your audience feel seen, and they’ll keep coming back.

2️⃣ Something educational (but not the kind Google could answer).

Please, for the love of content, stop posting things people could find in two seconds on Google.

Share the stuff only you know:

  • Your process
  • Your approach
  • Your spicy industry opinions
  • Your behind-the-scenes
  • That weird but magical thing you do that makes clients obsessed with you

And if that feels like too much effort? You can always drop a testimonial or client screenshot. Social proof is educational in its own way, it teaches people, “Hey, I’m legit. People pay me. They like me. You will too.”

3️⃣ Something that sells (yes, actually sells).

I know, I know… selling on Instagram feels cringe until you remember: If you don’t tell people what you do, they literally won’t know.

Tell them:

  • What you offer
  • How it works
  • Who it’s for
  • Why it’s magical
  • Why you’re the person they want in their business or on their camera roll

People want clarity. Give them clarity.

And if you’re posting more than three times a week?

Bless your motivated little heart.

In that case, add in:

Trends– because people love being entertained.
Behind-the-scenes– because humans are nosy and want to know what’s going on over there.
Personal moments– just enough to make them feel connected, not enough to make them worry about you (think: monthly or weekly photo dumps).

Posting consistently doesn’t have to feel like a full-time job. Stick to these three categories, mix in a little personality, and *boom*  your content actually starts working for you instead of stressing you out.

And if you’d rather not deal with any of this? Hi, hello, I’m Elyssa, and I literally built Bloom Digital Creatives so you don’t have to. 😉
