It’s story time friends, so get comfy, grab a snack, throw on your glasses (or don’t)… whatever makes you cozy. I’ve been feeling all the things after this past weekend.
Over the summer, Megan, our digital marketing assistant, approached me with an idea. She wanted to start offering video content creation services in Atlanta (where she lives). Around the same time, I saw The Reelies (an award ceremony for Reels. I couldn’t believe this existed either), were coming back to Atlanta, and I knew it was the perfect opportunity.
So, I did something a little wild: I decided to host a content event in Atlanta this September. It felt like the perfect way to officially launch Bloom Digital Creatives in a new city and train my team at the same time.
But here’s the truth: as the weekend got closer, the doubts started creeping in. Who did I think I was- launching in a new city? I hate flying (especially without my kids). And I didn’t know a single person going to The Reelies. Was I really just going to walk into a room full of strangers and introduce myself?! Those thoughts had me second-guessing everything.
That little voice in my head wanted me to play it safe. But if you’re reading this, consider it your sign to do the opposite. Step outside your comfort zone. Do the thing that scares you.
Because I didn’t cancel. I went. And I’ll never regret it.
We had the best content event with my team. I explored a new city (and ate my way through it, obviously). I had the most incredible night at The Reelies, where I met amazing, like-minded people, got dolled up, and even danced for three hours straight (which, let’s be real…never happens!!).
Atlanta reminded me of this: growth doesn’t happen in the safe zone. It happens when you risk the awkward, push past the fear, and trust that good things are waiting on the other side.
