14 Realistic Habits That Help Me Live a Healthy, Balanced Life as a CEO Mom

Closed laptop on a desk

Let’s be honest, trying to balance work, family, and personal life can feel like a full-contact sport some days. Between client meetings, school drop-offs, and everything in between, it’s easy to let our own well-being slide to the bottom of the list.

But over time, I’ve learned that small, realistic habits when done consistently, can completely shift how I show up in my business and my life. These aren’t “Pinterest-perfect” routines. They’re practical, doable habits that actually fit into a busy schedule.

Here’s what’s been working for me:

1. Make the beds every day

It sounds simple, but it starts the day with an easy win. A made bed just sets the tone for a productive morning and makes the whole house feel calmer.

2. Eliminate clutter

Less clutter equals less mental chaos. I’ve found that keeping my space organized helps my brain feel less crowded too.

3. CEO days on Sundays (or Mondays)

I block out time to plan my week, meals, workouts, appointments, and priorities. Having a roadmap helps me start the week with intention instead of panic.

4. Schedule workouts

If it’s not scheduled, it doesn’t happen. I started with just 15 minutes everyday, and it made a huge difference.

5. Move daily

Even on busy days, I try to move my body, even if it’s just a short walk. The goal is consistency, not perfection.

6. Listen and learn

Podcasts and audiobooks that are inspirational, motivational, or educational are my secret weapon. They keep me in the right mindset while I drive, fold laundry, or walk.

7. Practice gratitude and manifest

A few minutes of gratitude journaling or visualization grounds me in what’s going right, and reminds me of what’s possible.

8. Prioritize self-care

Massages, facials, coffee dates with friends- these are not luxuries. They’re maintenance for my mental health.

9. Unplug

I’m still working on this one, but setting boundaries with my phone is a game-changer. Turning it off by a certain time (or at least putting it in another room) helps me truly disconnect.

10. Read for fun

No business books allowed. Just something that lets me escape for a bit.

11. Therapy

Consistent therapy helped me learn how to manage stress and structure my time, and I can’t recommend it enough.

12. Brain dump when overwhelmed

When everything feels heavy, I make a list. Getting thoughts out of my head and onto paper instantly helps me refocus.

13. 15-minute house resets

Each morning, I do a quick tidy-up. It’s amazing how much lighter the day feels when the space around me feels fresh.

14. Get dressed and do my makeup (even if I’m home)

At least twice a week, I get fully ready, even if I’m not seeing anyone. It’s a little confidence boost that changes my entire mood.

Future Habits I’m Working On

I’m still learning to actually unplug (without secretly checking Slack 🙃) and wake up earlier to create more time for myself in the mornings.

Some days, it all goes smoothly. Other days… not so much. But I’ve learned to give myself grace. Missing a workout or skipping the bed doesn’t erase the progress… I just pick back up when I can.

Because success, for me, is less about perfection, and more about showing up, one small, intentional habit at a time.
